Sails Noosa wins best regional Wine list 2012

Samone Anderson-Moreno - Monday, May 14, 2012

Awards in the hospitality in industry are coveted.  As time goes on it gets harder and harder to discern which awards matter and which ones don't.  There are American Express awards, Good Food Guide, Gourmet Traveller, Courier Mail, Chef hats, Wine goblets - you name it there is an award associated with it.  Sails Restaurant Noosa prefers to participate minimally within the ceremony of awards.  We like to keep our focus on getting the job done on the restaurant floor and in the arena where the hard work matters.  To be awarded Regional Wine List of the Year 2012 by the Brisbane times Good food Guide is an absolute honour.  This is not an entry driven nomination, but an award given by our hospitality industry peers.  It means that big names in the industry have looked at our product, rated it and decided that it comes out on top. Read More

Petaluma Tiers & Wine Flight

Samone Anderson-Moreno - Thursday, May 26, 2011

Our Last wine flight boasted the elusive Penfolds Grange and Leeuwin Estate 'Art Series' Chardonnay.  This month we have an equally gorgeous Australian wine.  2000 Petaluma Tiers  Chardonnay drinking alongside 2008 Petaluma Piccadilly  Chardonnay.   Petaluma was founded by winemaker Brian Croser in 1976 and is led today by winemaker Andrew Hardy.  Petaluma wines are considered among the very best Australia has to offer, they continue this dominance by maintaining a focus on traditional wine making methods and painstaking care of vineyards. We were also lucky enough to secure a 1999 Museum release Hanlin Hill riesling directly from the winery which you can drink a glass alongside of their latest 2010 release Hanlin Hill riesling.  Read More

Citibank Insiders Dining Program & Sails Noosa

Samone Anderson-Moreno - Sunday, May 08, 2011

Sails Restaurant is delighted to partner with Citibank and their new Insiders Dining Program. We all enjoy dining out and now as a citibank customer every time you dine at any of the restaurants within this program you will receive a complimentary bottle of wine.  At Sails Restaurant Noosa you can select between a Coombend Sauvignon Blanc or Coombend Pinot Noir.  Both of these wines made it onto our wine list around six months ago when we decided that four of us would become the "drink tank" and taste more than 200 bottles of wine and score them accordingly. Our respect for wine writers grew over those two days.  Our respect for great wine makers also grew. Coombend is part of a portfolio of wines from Zenith Wine Agency and we are pleased to represent them on our wine list here at Sails. As I flick through the Insiders Guide it is great to see the celebraton of Australia's dining out passion.  It is one of the best concepts I have seen in terms of reward.  I would love to enjoy a a free bottle of wine with dinner. Read More
